	Fall Festival On Ponce - 15th Annual Atlanta, GA - Olmsted Park N Druid Hills Show Dates: 10/10/2026 to 10/11/2026 www.festivalonponce.com The Fall Festival on Ponce is a two-day outdoor local arts and crafts event held at the Olmsted Parks along Ponce de Leon Ave., the main thoroughfare in metro Atlanta. This event was such a success in 2010 that we decided to split it into two per year. (one festival in spring, one festival in fall) The festival supports the historic Olmsted Parks restoration. This celebration of community and tradition is located in the center of the historic affluent North Druid Hills neighborhood in Atlanta. Lots of trees, huge open green space, and tons of visibility make this an irresistible event for artists. The Fall Festival on Ponce is a 2-day celebration of community and tradition presented by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, for people of all ages and interests. The Festival is a major celebration of the arts while honoring the rich history of our community. At this festival, there is something for everyone: Artist's Market featuring fine arts and crafts, a Children's Park, local food and beverage concessions, and live acoustic entertainment. And many of those shows have spin-off events too. The Mt. Gretna art show in Pennsylvania has the crafts spin-off... the Coconut Grove show in Florida has a couple of spin-off events... the Corn Hill festival in Rochester, NY has the Corn Cobb festival... but I donâ€™t know of any show anywhere that has more spin-off events than does the show that started as the Colors Festival in Thurmont, MD. In fact when I attended the show myself, I was shocked to see that the actual â€œColors Festivalâ€ was a relatively small show that took place in an isolated park. Now I donâ€™t mean to say that itâ€™s really all that small... I think they claim something like 360 exhibitors which they probably have. But by comparison to everything else happening that weekend itâ€™s really just a part of the festival. I believe that everyone running a booth has to register with the city too. And when they do they get a number which must be posted on the booth. One of the years I attended it took me and two other people two full days to walk the show. That was just to walk it and hand out a few flyers. And I was being particularly aware of the numbers on the booths. I believe the highest number I saw that day was 1396 but I wouldnâ€™t be surprised if there were actually even more exhibitors. With that many exhibitors, along with one of the largest crowds of shoppers Iâ€™ve ever seen at an art and craft show (at least one that was exclusively arts and crafts) you can imagine that there was at least one of just about every conceivable type of art and every imaginable craft youâ€™d ever expect to see anywhere. Of course there were a fair number of buy/ sell people here too... and they places they got booths were fine with that. Well it thatâ€™s what youâ€™d imagined... then youâ€™d be correct! As you might also think... parking is a real nightmare. And it is! Shoppers are lucky to get a space anywhere within 10 miles of the show if they donâ€™t get there early. Buses hauling those shoppers seem to be everywhere and drop off points are located in several places throughout the festival. Sales at this show are all over the map too. Iâ€™ve talked to people who have told me they sold literally tens of thousands of dollars of their work... and I think some were probably telling the truth. Of course that certainly was the exception. But based on what I saw during the show and watching the amount of work that was leaving and headed for cars, plus talking to at least a couple hundred exhibitors... Iâ€™d say most people drove home with anywhere from $1000 to $2000 in sales with quite a few more in the $2000 to $4000 range. There were of course some people who barely made booth and of course those are always the ones who want to talk your ear off when you stop buy to say hello. Iâ€™d say that was not the rule however. Many exhibitors were so busy they barely had time to say a word to us! The price of a booth has a range as wide as you may imagine. Some of the smaller shows in more out of the way places might sell a booth for $50 or $75 while some of the best spaces in the show command several hundred dollars. Food booth space was much the same. Iâ€™ve been to shows where they claim 350,000 shoppers or in some cases even more! This event claims attendance of about 100,000. If youâ€™ve even been to this event you know then, that if this is what 100,000 people looks like then those shows claiming 350,000 must really have something like 50,000. Another thing I like about the Thurmont show is itâ€™s location. The town is just off Maryland Rt. 15 which probably sees some of the heaviest traffic between eastern PA and Washington DC. In fact, this is so close to DC and Harrisburg that they get tons of traffic from both places. With the center of our Federal Government just a few miles away and the capital of Pennsylvania just a few miles the other way, there isnâ€™t much of a recession. We all know government keeps spending money and paying good salaries regardless of what is happening in the rest of the country. In fact, the per capita income in this area is one of the higher ones on the east coast! Participating in a big show like this is actually a double edged sword. On one hand you have tons of customers and lots and lots of potential sales. On the other hand, the competition is really high and shoppers have so many choices that they may not buy just because they are overwhelmed! I will say though... it all the shows were like this one... they weâ€™d probably all retire in just a few years!

I believe the highest number I saw that day was 1396 but I wouldnâ€™t be surprised if there were actually even more exhibitors. With that many exhibitors, along with one of the largest crowds of shoppers Iâ€™ve ever seen at an art and craft show (at least one that was exclusively arts and crafts) you can imagine that there was at least one of just about every conceivable type of art and every imaginable craft youâ€™d ever expect to see anywhere. Of course there were a fair number of buy/ sell people here too... and they places they got booths were fine with that. Well it thatâ€™s what youâ€™d imagined... then youâ€™d be correct! As you might also think... parking is a real nightmare. And it is! Shoppers are lucky to get a space anywhere within 10 miles of the show if they donâ€™t get there early. Buses hauling those shoppers seem to be everywhere and drop off points are located in several places throughout the festival. Sales at this show are all over the map too. Iâ€™ve talked to people who have told me they sold literally tens of thousands of dollars of their work... and I think some were probably telling the truth. Of course that certainly was the exception. But based on what I saw during the show and watching the amount of work that was leaving and headed for cars, plus talking to at least a couple hundred exhibitors... Iâ€™d say most people drove home with anywhere from $1000 to $2000 in sales with quite a few more in the $2000 to $4000 range. There were of course some people who barely made booth and of course those are always the ones who want to talk your ear off when you stop buy to say hello. Iâ€™d say that was not the rule however. Many exhibitors were so busy they barely had time to say a word to us! The price of a booth has a range as wide as you may imagine. Some of the smaller shows in more out of the way places might sell a booth for $50 or $75 while some of the best spaces in the show command several hundred dollars. Food booth space was much the same. Iâ€™ve been to shows where they claim 350,000 shoppers or in some cases even more! This event claims attendance of about 100,000. If youâ€™ve even been to this event you know then, that if this is what 100,000 people looks like then those shows claiming 350,000 must really have something like 50,000. Another thing I like about the Thurmont show is itâ€™s location. The town is just off Maryland Rt. 15 which probably sees some of the heaviest traffic between eastern PA and Washington DC. In fact, this is so close to DC and Harrisburg that they get tons of traffic from both places. With the center of our Federal Government just a few miles away and the capital of Pennsylvania just a few miles the other way, there isnâ€™t much of a recession. We all know government keeps spending money and paying good salaries regardless of what is happening in the rest of the country. In fact, the per capita income in this area is one of the higher ones on the east coast! Participating in a big show like this is actually a double edged sword. On one hand you have tons of customers and lots and lots of potential sales. On the other hand, the competition is really high and shoppers have so many choices that they may not buy just because they are overwhelmed! I will say though... it all the shows were like this one... they weâ€™d probably all retire in just a few years!

	Art in the Park - 54th Annual Myrtle Beach, SC - Market Common Show Dates: 10/10/2026 to 10/11/2026 www.artsyparksy.com A small group of artists from the nonprofit group formed in the late 1960s Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild created Art in the Park about 1972 in Chapin Park with art hung from trees and leaning against cars. Chapin Park is located at 1400 N. Kings Hwy. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where we have our shows in April, June and November from 10am to 4pm. In the spring of 2010 we had our first Art in the Park at Valor Park, located at 1120 Farrow Parkway, Market Common, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We did not know how it would go over so we invited all the jewelry artists we had been turning away. We had been turning away a lot of jewelers. It was fabulous. They all got along well and it was well attended. A typical Art in the Park will feature 40 artists. Obviously we will have a lot of North, South Carolina artists and Georgia Artists but we also have them coming from as far as California, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania with about 20 local artists presenting their works. Featured art will include paintings, woodworking, photography, jewelry, fabric, glass, metal, pottery and stone. We do not have any resale in our show. It might surprise you to know we turn away a lot of musicians, authors, food products and bath and body artisans. We are old fashioned art guild trying to keep it to the typical two and three dimensional art. Over the years we have enjoyed the traffic on 17 business in Myrtle Beach. Once it was a major traffic path up and down the east coast. Since 1972 we have seen 17 bypass and Hwy 31. These have taken traffic from our show. Now we have added an additional venue in the new city development Market Commons in Myrtle Beach. Some say it is still difficult to find and does not have a great traffic pattern. But it is growing each year. The artists like it because you can always see more houses going up and that means more walls to decorate, etc. Myrtle Beach is becoming a more exciting resort. The chamber is advertising more and we have having more people arrive by plane and driving in. Social media is helping there and in turn helping us. Social media is helping our art show as each artist can use their profiles to invite them to our show and that 40 plus artist multiple will build with our six shows a year should be very high in a year or two. These kinds of shows are indeed rare. We donâ€™t actually solicit our artists and many just find their shows by word of mouth. The customers find the shows by reputation. If you keep doing the same thing with just small tweaks, you can be known for it and it will be good. Our show is run by artists, this one a nonprofit. We have people contact us year after year for our dates from out of town so they can plan their trips, if they are an attendee or artists. No admission charge. Child and pet friendly!
